physics of sports |
This project was to choose a sports action, ours was to throw a football, and show the physics in the action, in order to make a persons actions better. This required us to keep the forces of momentum, impulse, and of projectile motion in mind. We talked about the momentum put into the ball, balance of weight of the player, and the angle that the ball should ideally travel at. Below is our video!
This project had more time constraint than the last project did. While the last one had four to five weeks, this project had only about three to four with not all of them being work days. This led to us having to manage our time, and concentrate on the work more. We still managed to pull through in the end and finish the video.
Below are some of the main points we had to keep in mind during our project.
Momentum- mass times velocity - the amount of energy in a moving object
Acceleration- m/s squared - acceleration is rate of change of the motion of an object
Force- F=ma
Newtons- N - Force is shown as a push or pull
Work- Joules
Velocity- m/s, velocity is speed in a certain direction
We could have been more on task during filming, we also could have gone over calculations twice to make them perfect. This left a few mishaps in our final video. I learned how becoming a leader is important so your team members will respect you and listen to your ideas. I also learned that I am not a computer expert at the least. Filming was a struggle, because we goofed around too much at times, so staying on task is something we could work on.
